Tip #1: Get to Know Your Audience

Knowing your audience is a game-changer. This step makes it possible to write great content that you know your audience will engage with every time. Your company needs to know who they are writing for. If you are new to writing content for websites or are simply trying to reach a different type of audience than you already have, it is essential to define your reader’s personas. Many factors will change the style of your writing and what you write. If your audience is young adults, you will most likely want to write in a less formal, more youthful way. If your audience is middle-aged professionals, you will want to write in a more formal, to-the-point style. 

After you determine who you are writing for, look into what they would typically search for and why they might want to search for your content. This will help you get a clear mind-track of what you will write to connect directly with your audience. Also, don’t forget to pick appropriate words that resonate with your audience! The content that you will be able to create after getting to know your audience will not only meet the needs of your intended audience but will potentially rank you better in search engines because of the traffic your content will bring.

Tip #2: Create Engaging & Up-to-Date Content

Creating engaging and up-to-date content is one of the most important factors in boosting your website’s SEO. If you do not have quality, original content on your website, people will not be able to find your website on various search engines. The more in-depth your article is, the more likely your audience is to be engaged and finish the article you have written. People search the internet to get answers to their questions and to find products they already know they want. What you are trying to do with your writing is make the most attractive, relevant content you can so that when a consumer comes across your website, they don’t want to leave.

In addition to creating quality, engaging content, you need to update your website consistently. You can do this by writing new articles, creating new art, or creating/posting new products! If you do not have up-to-date content, your audience will skip right past your website in hopes of finding the latest information they can find. Another way to keep your content fresh is by updating what already lives on your website. If you wrote a blog two years ago and it contains out-of-date statistics, update them. Any little way you can keep your content current will benefit your SEO.

Tip #3: Don’t Forget to Link

Creating original content is important, but so is linking to content from other websites that have high domain authority. A high domain authority means that Google has determined that the website is trusted and considers it to be an “expert” on the topics at hand. The more interaction you have with websites that carry high domain authority, the more likely Google is to rank your domain authority higher as well. 

It is also so important to backlink! Linking to internal pages that are not as easily reachable but have quality content is huge! The more information your audience can find within the one page they clicked on, the better. When creating content and placing links within that content, your goal should be to keep someone that finds your content on your website as long as possible. Giving someone the opportunity to click a link they didn’t realize they needed or wanted to see is important for many different reasons. It not only gives them different or additional information than they thought they wanted but also keeps them on your website longer, helping increase your engagement resulting in boosting your SEO.
