TikTok Marketing: Should I Use TikTok for Business?

by Daniel Gilpin  |  June 2, 2022

Social media is undoubtedly important for many businesses, and TikTok's popularity continues to soar at an incredible rate. The number of monthly active users on the app has risen from 400 million to 1.2 billion in just one year!

In this blog, we'll talk about if you should advertise on TikTok, so let's get started.

Do you use TikTok already?

If you answered yes, you can also answer yes to this blog's title. Half of the effort is already made because you're already on TikTok. You're also in a good position because you already have a following. TikTok allows you to reach out to new customers as well as existing customers who enjoy your brand.

If you answered no, keep reading.

Are you too late to the party?

TikTok was created in 2016, however advertising options were not available until late 2018. Previously, if a company wanted to promote its products, it had to work with an influencer to reach a more targeted audience.

Because TikTok is still a relative newbie to the social media industry, its advertising area is not as crowded as the other major three. If you’re a smaller firm with a smaller budget, this means your content has a better chance of being seen and noticed.

Since there isn't as much competition on TikTok as there is on Facebook and Instagram, now is a great time for smaller brands to advertise to increase visibility.

Trust is born from authenticity.

Most people associate advertisements with attractive, polished messaging that can come across as deceptive. On TikTok, that's not going to fly. It's all about creating short, unique videos that demonstrate your brand's and products' genuineness.

You don't want your target audience to feel like they're being sold a product if you want them to trust you enough to give you a chance. They want to believe that the product was produced by someone who had the same problem as them and came up with a solution specifically for them. They may even wish to believe that your brand's beliefs and ethics are similar to their own.

Users of TikTok don't want to feel like they're watching an advertisement. They want to believe they just lucked onto a video on their "for you" page that shows a product or brand they would like.

Is TikTok right for your business?

With TikTok's rapid growth and the fact that 53 percent of TikTok users in the United States are over the age of 30, it's difficult to conceive a brand that wouldn't benefit from having its face in front of that many consumers of such a diverse age range.

However, if you're still unsure, we'd be happy to assist you! We understand that digital advertising is complicated and multidimensional, and you want to get the most bang for your buck.
